I’m sitting here at work attempting to research India and I have come to a realization; I know nothing about India. I don’t really know why I have never noticed it before now, but trying to look up travel plans is proving to be difficult. It seems that I know some stuff (very limited) about the culture, food, etc… but I have absolutely no idea what is in India. I know the Taj Mahal, Mumbai, Delhi, and a few other sites, but as for what else, I’m at a total loss.
I keep attempting to look stuff up, but as I already knew, India is big, really big that is densely packed in with lots of places, cultures, people, etc… and from here on in lies the problem . I don’t know where to begin. I started reading travel sites or blogs, but they refer to things or places I have never heard of, so I go research those. While researching those, I find more stuff I didn’t know and proceed to spiral downward in this process. Eventually, I find that I have read a lot and feel more lost on how to plan.
So far all I’ve got is:
- Delhi
- Rajisthan
- Jaipur
- Udaipur
- Varanassi
- Agra
Sure there are other places on my list, but these are the places I am for sure planning into my trip. I just don’t know enough about the place to figure out where else. Also proving confusing is how to plan a trip to all of these places, since India is so big and I don’t want to waste time backtracking.
All of this amounts to me getting really excited! I’m going to a place I’ve recently learned that I know next to nothing about…and I almost kind of want to keep it that way. I know I shouldn’t because of the thought that I might miss something amazing or having to backtrack, but the mystery is alluring. The thought of walking around completely lost, in a culture I don’t understand, and having to discover it through nothing but my wanderlust sounds magical. Since I’m traveling with YeYe who spent several months in India a few years ago, I might be safe with doing this (although she will hate me for making her do all the planning leg work).
This is going to be awesome…
