A new WTF dish that I must try. A half decapitated squid that dances when you pour some sauce on it. Seriously WTF?

They would take the prisoner to a stake, tie them up and blindfold them. The firing squad would let off 30 or 40 shots until the prisoner’s body had turned to honeycomb.

I thought this was a great video. I never heard this Charlie Chaplin speech before, but it’s fantastic. It’s from one of his movies called The Great Dictator. The movie is 60 years old but this speech still seems to hold true. Hope those fires of revolution against oppression in the Middle East and North Africa keep on burning.
Also I’m not sure on where I stand on outside forces jumping into the fray in Libya. I’m down with the no-fly zone to stop Gaddafi from bombing his own people, but should international forces intervene? It kind of muddies up the revolution, but then again I’m not knowledgeable enough about the situation there. Also Bahrain, Yemen, and others keep up the good fight. North Korea and Iran feel free to join in anytime you want.
P.S. Larry I hope your recovery is going well. Hurry and heal up so you can get back to busting my Dad’s chops.
The full text of the speech is after the jump Continue reading
This has to be perhaps one of the best videos of South Korea I have seen. I was able to recognize and have been to almost every place in the video. Spend 9 minutes, watch this video, and see some of the beauty that South Korea offers. Also I highly recommend it to my friends that have left for other shores, especially my Korean friends that are abroad. Enjoy!

PS I need to learn to do video like this…super impressed.
I thought this was hilarious. This Korean guy, Anderson I think his name is (gathered from the watermark on the upper left), gives a lesson on how to swear in English in Korean; thankfully with English subs too. I think he does a pretty bang up job at it too. So my Korean friends who have asked me in the past to teach them to swear in English, I’m think of you Frank, here is a good lesson for you.
Last night I met up with my friend Sarah and discussed Taiwan. YeYe and I are planning to move to Taiwan after doing some wandering around India and a trip home back to amurica‘ (better known as America). My aforementioned friend Sarah is a Taiwanese-American that spent her early childhood in Taiwan. She also just returned from a trip to Taiwan for Chinese New Year with her extended family. After hearing her stories, I’m so stoked at the thought about moving to Taiwan! Good food, beautiful countryside (all lush and green), and a very interesting culture to explore. Although I’m not so excited for the humidity…goddamn, humidity just about kills me. Some stuff to help me get excited about Taiwan:
So my friend Sher, who is a big fan of K-Pop music (we had a K-pop dance sess at my old apartment when her and her sister visited in 2009, see here), recently said that an English cover of Taeyang’s Wedding Dress is better than the original. I don’t have the option to do polls at the moment, but I thought I would throw it out there to see what you thought.
Original: Taeyang – Wedding Dress
English Cover: Kevin Lien – Wedding Dress
I know it’s a guilty pleasure but the K-pop is just too damn catchy. Also, I already mentioned this, but Mr. Camp I can’t help but recall your Backstreet Boys living room dance sessions with Brandon, funny shit. Now I must go flog myself for posting more K-pop on my blog.
First off I have to say WTF!?! This data absolutely blew me away. I was very surprised. Some of the results were expected but others were definitely surprising. This is some of the stuff that caught me off-guard:
All of these seem shocking, but I found the last point to be the most shocking. Korea is known for it’s traditional Confucian values that creates a firm divide between who is the superior and who is the inferior in almost every social situation. So I guess my instincts told me this would mean a larger class divide, but this heurstic is looking at class divide by comparing relative incomes of the upper and lower classes. In that respect, Korea is more egalitarian (except for the owners of the big chaebols like Hyundai, LG, etc…), where as, America, is becoming a madily unequal society with “the top 1% earn more than the bottom 50%“.
So, go entertain yourself for awhile and learn some new stuff by comparing countries. The website is ifitweremyhome.com. The site seems to pull together info from all kinds of sources like the CIA World Factbook, WHO, etc…, and compares each respective countries data against each other.
Now I must get back to watching Japanese Sexy Beach Sports on FX. I’m not a fan of Fox Networks, but FX doesn’t mess around with pushing guilty pleasures on it’s audiences;
I’ve just learned that Bill Murray has a penchant for crashing parties in New York City. Most recently he crashed a Karaoke Party. If there is one way to up the good old noraebang would be to have Bill ‘Fuckin’ Murray show up and sing a tune.
Bill Murray Crashin’ Karaoke sessions
This is so what I want for my next Birthday party. Bill Murray is one of my favorite actors (got to love him in all those Wes Anderson flicks) and a great comedian. Him showing up to a party would literally blow my mind (I’m using the word ‘literally’ literally here).
Update: Here is a much better article than the one previously posted.
I keep reading or hearing people joking about the death of Detroit. To be honest I don’t know if it’s really dying or not, all I see is what comes across the news. I have learned that the news isn’t as reliable as I once thought it was. So I stumbled across a link to a French shoe company (I think their French) called Palladium that made a interesting little documentary about the very vibrate DIY (do-it-yourself) community building taking place in the Motor City. Here is their description about their documentary.
Once the fourth-largest metropolis in America—some have called it the Death of the American Dream. Today, the young people of the Motor City are making it their own DIY paradise where rules are second to passion and creativity. They are creating the new Detroit on their own terms, against real adversity. We put our boots on and went exploring.
Check it out if you have 30 minutes, it will give you hope for those rusting parts of the US.
