Just a date with the Little Ye

It’s a little late on the posting but whatever, it’s my blog :P . Anyways a few weeks ago Yeye and I went on a date. We don’t do enough dates because we are always so busy, I’m trying to change that. We went out and saw a movie. We saw the new Sherlock Holmes film. It was pretty good and definitely a big improvement over the first movie. We also went and got some Ramen at my favorite Ramen joint in Busan, Hotaru. I fucking love that place.

The date was great but Yeye was still feeling the effects of our last drinking outing. So she made me drink all the Sake to myself. I didn’t mind but I really didn’t want to get that drunk.

Philippines and Winter Camp

Finally, this damned winter camp is almost finished. To many days of work in a row! About  3 days off in 30 days makes one very, very tired. So I’m planning on going down to the Philippines with my co-worker Andrew and just relaxing. Her is the game plan so far. Fly to Cebu, find a beach that is happening, cheap, and near by and fucking relax. Possible activities: lounging on beach, swimming, getting sun burnt, drinking copiously, massages, kayaking, etc…. It’s going to be grand.

I’ll Be Afraid of You!

So I get easily bored at work. To alleviate this I pull pranks on the kids. I know childish, but it keeps me sane. One thing I do is scare the kids. Like just walking up behind them and then saying “BOO!” The other day I scared some student that I’ve never before spoken too. I finally ended up subbing in her class and then she drew this picture of me and we had a re-enactment.

Thai Food in Deokpo

My co-worker Jamie told me that she had found an awesome Thai restaurant in Busan. It’s super cheap and serves some authentic Thai dishes. I tried to get a pool of my co-workers to go with me to eat some Thai on the cheap, but winter camp is killing us all. So it just ended up being Summer and I, after Andrew, Jake, Blake, etc… all bailed. Whatever though they missed out on some good foods and awesomely Summer is much more outgoing than outside of work than at work, so all was good. I didn’t snap to many pictures but I got a pic of the pad thai…

Beer and a Drop of Blood

The other night I went over to Madeline’s house for her 26th birthday and she had a little surprise from home waiting for me there. Kelsey had sent Megan and I a little care package. She Sent us a bottle of Life and Limb! A truely epic beer from a team up between Dogfish Head and Sierra Nevada Breweries. My life has been lacking in excellent beer recently and this helped fill that void. It’s dark, strong, and has a very full taste! Thank you so much Kelsey!

Also Kelsey sent Little YeYe a cute little drop of blood. It has now been added to YeYe’s collection of little things.

Delicious Pork Belly

So There is this guy who sells Pork Belly out of a truck by the subway. It turns on a giant skewer on the bottom rack of a meat roaster. Above it are many chickens roasting and dripping their delicious fats onto this pork belly making it just that much better. This is perhaps my new favorite food in Korea; Tong-Samgyeopsal (통삼겹살). Ahhh I want this in my mouth right now!

DIY panini press

This New Years Eve after I got off work I had a hankering for a panini. Sadly finding paninis in Korea is a difficult task, so I decided my best plan of action was to make my own panini. I had all the ingredients all I needed to do was grill the damn thing. Problem there was I don’t have a panini press, so I decided to get creative…

Using iron as a panini press...Awesome!

Using iron as a panini press = Awesome!

Yes I decided to use my iron as a panini press. It worked excellently! The only problem I had with it was the iron was a little to large for the pan so it didn’t squish the sandwich as much as I would have liked. Here are the results of my experiment…

Not to shabby, eh? I did learn one thing though, the linen setting on my iron is way to hot for bread. Charred the hell out of that chunk of wheat.
