So There is this guy who sells Pork Belly out of a truck by the subway. It turns on a giant skewer on the bottom rack of a meat roaster. Above it are many chickens roasting and dripping their delicious fats onto this pork belly making it just that much better. This is perhaps my new favorite food in Korea; Tong-Samgyeopsal (통삼겹살). Ahhh I want this in my mouth right now!

DIY panini press
This New Years Eve after I got off work I had a hankering for a panini. Sadly finding paninis in Korea is a difficult task, so I decided my best plan of action was to make my own panini. I had all the ingredients all I needed to do was grill the damn thing. Problem there was I don’t have a panini press, so I decided to get creative…
Yes I decided to use my iron as a panini press. It worked excellently! The only problem I had with it was the iron was a little to large for the pan so it didn’t squish the sandwich as much as I would have liked. Here are the results of my experiment…
Not to shabby, eh? I did learn one thing though, the linen setting on my iron is way to hot for bread. Charred the hell out of that chunk of wheat.
Survived another year
I’ve survived another year and made it to 2012. Last night was great, even if I didn’t stay out till sunrise like I had planned. At least that means I was partially functional today. Didn’t do anything too wild. Just went out for dinner and then drinks in KSU. Strangest thing to probably happen all night was running into Ernie at a bar at about 4am. Despite it being fairly improbable thing to happen it didn’t seem to surprise me in the least bit. Funniest thing is probably Yeye’s story of smacking her head on the dresser when she got out of bed.
Happy New Year! 새해 복 많이 받으세요!
Xmas 2011
Another Christmas in Korea has come and gone. Although this year wasn’t as festive as last year because I had to work. Man working on Christmas is a bitch. The day wasn’t bad or anything, but it just makes you bitter that you’re having to be productive when everyone else you know (except your coworkers) have the day off and are celebrating. We made the best of it though.
So we decided to usurp the English Cafe at work after hours to host our Christmas Dinner Feast. We ordered up a large turkey set from the Seamen’s Club and used the cooking classroom at work to prepare some additional goodies. Also all the crafty people I’m associated with these days made the fairly mundane English Cafe look great! The feast was good and the company better. Here are some pics…

Softmod of Wii Successful
Recently, Yeye decided to jack her niece’s Wii and bring it home for us to play with. Apparently her niece doesn’t use the system enough to noticed that it disappeared. So I took this opportunity to softmod the thing and put the Homebrew Channel on it for a little more…control. Well first off I’ve never softmodded a Wii before so that was a big thing to learn. This was only compounded by the fact like everything else Korean, things just don’t work the same as everywhere else. So I had to go through some special steps that weren’t always well documented to get the Wii into a state where I could alter it. Totally pain in the ass. Anyways whatever, it’s done and now I have a functioning softmodded wii. I feel lots of old school games are in my future! SWEET!
