One thing that all my friends and family know about me is that I love food. I’m a serious foodie that will go out of my way for some new culinary experiences. Recently, I have been a lazy foodie and relaying to much on the staple restaurants and cuisines that reside immediately around my house. So on Facebook the earlier this week I posted this status:
Alright friends currently living in Korea or that have since departed. Share with me the most amazing culinary experiences you’ve had. I want to make a list!
Essentially I want to get back out there and experience the good and most exciting Korean foods I can find. So my goal over the next few months (time and money permitting) is to find and consume the foods my friends recommended to me.
The List:
- Dweji Galbi (돼지갈비)
- Chogae gui (조개구이)
- Dweji Galbi Jim (돼지갈비 찜)
- Borlibab (보리밥)
- Kalguksu (칼국수)
- Oribulgogi (오리불고기)
- Dwejigukbab (돼지국밥)
- Gyelanjoelam (계란조림)
- Bossam (보쌈)
- Modun Galbi (모든 갈비)
- Ramyeon (라면) – the Blue kind
- The Lady Burger at Lotteria
- Live octopus on a stick (산낙지)
- Hotel Room in suyeong
- Barbecued Kimchi (김치)
- Chamchee Jjigae (참치찌개)
- Cheesuh Donkasu (치즈돈까스)
- Dongnae Pajeon (동래파전)
- Potbingsu (팥빙수) at Spa land
- Penis Fish (개불) at Jagalachi
Most of these foods I have actually eaten before except for a few that I’m not sure of by Heath and James, I’ve never heard of the Hotel Room; any info on that would be appreciated. Now I’ll just have to see if I can track down the people that posted each one to share the eating experience (that is barring major differences in locations with people such as James, Megatron, etc…). Heath looks like we will be eating lots of meals together or just eating a lot in one day, Matt I know it’s impossible to meet up with you but I’ll try, and Tyler I would love some Nubbins but see before previously stated stipulation on major differences in location.
